Tennis Playing & Coaching Background Of Ernie Wellhausen

Ernie after a hard day on the courts at Sidcup Crescent Tennis Club

Ernie has been a qualified PTR tennis coach for many years and is currently the head coach for Sidcup Crescent Tennis Club based in Sidcup in Kent. A former top 100 UK junior, aspirations of a professional tennis career were unfortunately cut short by a serious elbow injury. Ernie bounced back to be one of the star players on the Greenwich University first team for many years, including being chairman for 2 years guiding the team to the semi finals of the national universities cup. He was also part of the Universities' unbeaten league winning team in the 2006-07 season. Adding to his achievements, Ernie has won all 4 possible titles in the various club competitions at Crescent including the singles, doubles and handicap doubles. Most recently, Ernie was part of the Sidcup Crescent First Team that claimed the North Kent Title in February 2009.

Experience

In addition to his Diploma in Sports Science with Tennis Coaching that he received at the University Of Greenwich and his PTR qualifications, Ernie has many years of tennis coaching experience in a number of different situations including:

  • Head coach of Sidcup Crescent since April 2008
  • One year as a tennis manager for Mark Warner tennis holidays
  • One year coaching with Sunsail Holidays
